Just some thoughts...

My car is SO close to being paid off. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Woooo!

Congrats to my dear friend, Paige. She got married on Saturday! Paige is easily one of the most beautiful people I have ever met (in all ways one can be beautiful), but she was absolutely stunning on Saturday. So happy for her!

I really wish I were patient. I admire PATIENT people SO much.

I am madly in love with John Mayer. Seriously, he's hot and he can sing. Love him.

I love this time of year. I love that it's finally getting cold outside (I prefer cold over hot any day). I love that I can listen to Christmas music. I love that Costco has all their holiday decor up already. I love that CHRISTMAS is just around the corner.

I really really really want to go to Alaska.

I really really really want to own a cabin somewhere, anywhere.

I need a vacation. I will even settle for St. George.

Not all little kids are cute, some are down right naughty little brats.

My scrubs are fitting looser lately. Love that.

It's my little sister's birthday today! I don't tell her enough but I love her alot.

I am so sick of football being on my T.V. I could actually throw it against the wall. It's just noise to me!

I had the best time with some old friends last Christmas break, I hope this one coming up is just as fun.

On that note, I miss my friends. I really really do.

I HATE Christmas shopping for people if I have no clue what to get them. If I have an idea, great. If not, I loathe going in blind. It is SO stressful to me.

My cute little Grandpa turned 69 yesterday. I love him. He is great.

I'm working for noon to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. Jealous, much?
However, I have all of Christmas OFF!

My cute friend Jessica is getting married this Saturday to a nice kid named Kevin. It's going to be a great day. So excited for her.

My other friend Sean is also getting married on Saturday! It seems like getting married is the "cool" thing to do these days...I (apparently) did not get the memo and I am so ok with that.

I hate working Saturdays.

I love working Thursdays.

Last but not least, I'm going back to school. Kindof a big deal...

Anyway, Happy Monday!

Life is Good.

Today was easily one of the best days I have had in a long time. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and say that it is on my top 5. This is why...
  • I slept til 9:55 (just in time for Conference)
  • Because of Conference, I got to stay in my jammies ALL day long! That in and of itself makes for a REALLY good day. Just sayin'.
  • I got to listen to General Conference which in my opinion was absolutely wonderful. Did anybody else hear Elder Holland's talk? Incredible, yes?
  • My Mama made one of my very favorite meals. Because I am the pickiest one, I sure do love it when she does that.
  • I am now sitting and watching I Love Lucy (I never watch T.V.-the whole 60 hours a week thing gets in the way of that)
  • I will probably be in bed within the next hour. Just the thought makes me happy!
I have had a lot of really good days lately. Not that I usually have bad days and it's not that anything super out of the ordinary has happened, it has just been reaffirmed to me a lot lately that life really and truly is good (pretty sure that was a run-on sentence. Don't care. Too much effort to fix it).

I had one of the funniest conversations with one of my 6 year old (I will call him Jackson) patients on Friday. It went something like this...

(Preface: At work, when I check kids in, I ask their parents certain developmental questions based on their child's age to make sure they are where they need to be developmentally. I was asking Jackson's Mom developmental questions on the 4 year old brother who was there for an appointment as well.)

Me (speaking to the Mom): Does he (the 4 yr old) draw people?

Mom: I don't know. I don't think so? Maybe he does...

Jackson: I have been trying to teach him. He just doesn't get it. I don't know what we're going to do with him!

Me: You have been teaching him to draw people? Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm pretty sure you have probably done a good job.

Jackson: That's what I think (shrugging his shoulders), he just doesn't get it...

I love love love my job. I have little conversations like this with kids nearly everyday of my life. How awesome is that? It's basically impossible to be in a bad mood. I love it, all of them keep me on my toes!

Anyway, that kindof ended up being a quite random blog post. Whatev. I like it like that.

Until next time...

Lessons Learned.

I have learned alot lately. I have learned alot about myself, people I work with, what I do on a daily basis etc. I want to write some of those things down. Mostly because it probably wouldn't be a bad thing to be able to reflect on later. Keep in mind that I am still mastering alot of these things. Actually, I'm pretty sure that most of them are a continual work in progress.

I have learned that some people never change. (Accept it and move on, you're not going to change it by being mad at them)

I have learned that not everything has to be perfect (according to my standards) all the time.

I have learned that you feel better if you talk about what you're feeling instead of bottling things up. (This one is so stinking' hard for me!)

I have learned that there is absolutely no way to prepare yourself for a Dr. telling you that your mother has cancer. If any of you have experienced this, you know the feeling. It is absolutely horrifying.

I have learned that first impressions are not always correct. (I have been SOOOOOO wrong about some people in the past. Also, people have been wrong about me too.)

I have learned that it is therapeutic to sing in the car. I have learned that the louder you sing, the better you feel. (I'm also pretty sure that I sound exactly like a mix between Celine Dion and Whitney Houston when I sing by myself in the car. Don't be jealous. Not all of us can have talent like Me, C and Whit do. Yep, we're on a first name basis)

I have learned that it doesn't matter how popular you were in high school. What matters is what you are doing now.

I have learned and truly believe that there is a reason for everything. (even if it is completely hateful, there is a reason for it)

I have learned that if you make it a point to have a positive attitude. It is absolutely amazing how much good you will find. (I have done this "be positive" things lately and have noticed a HUGW difference)

I have learned that if you try to look for the good in other people, you will usually find it.

I have learned that people are generally good. Some of us are crazy and totally out there but generally, there are good intentions behind all the crazy.

I have learned that if you talk to children like you would talk to adults, like they are important and you care what they say, they will respond better to you.

I have learned that children are the most honest people on the planet. If you want a true and honest answer, go ask a 3 year old what they think. They'll tell ya. (I like kids, can you tell?)

I have learned that there is no age limit on friendship. (Some of my besties are older than me, others are younger than me. It doesn't matter. What matters is that we're friends!)

I have learned that if you speed, you'll eventually get a ticket (or two). This one has taken me a LONG time to grasp. (My Dad will be thrilled that I have finally gotten this one through my head)

I have learned that people in your life are put there for a reason. Learn from them, it is amazing what you can learn.

I have learned that some people simply feel that they are better than others. If you don't agree, just walk away.

I have learned that if you read your scriptures and pray before you start you day, your day will be better. That's just all there is to it. (I am not perfect at this. However, I do KNOW this one to be legit!)

I have learned to (try) to be kind to everyone. Because everyone is fighting some sort of battle. (One of my very favorite quotes)

I have learned that I am not right all the time (gasp). And that's okay! (I know, you're all shocked. It's okay, I was too when I figured this one out. ;) )

Anyway, by no means do I claim to be an expert on how to live life. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and say that I am the farthest thing from that. I have just had experiences from time to time that have made these "I have learned..." points very real to me. I am so so grateful for those experiences.

Blog-diggity...

I am having a pretty chill evening. I'm actually somewhat bored (gasp!) So, I figured it would be a perfect time to blog. I just have some random thoughts (more like questions) that I want to throw into the void. I do not know the answer to most of these questions. Or, if I do know the answer, I don't like it. So, if you have a response and/or answer and/or comment, feel free to respond...

Why is it that two people can have the exact same profession, have exactly the same job titles and get paid pretty much the exact same wage but one can make you feel completely incompetent because they feel you are "below" them whilst the other, while doing the exact same job as the first, actually makes you feel important?

Why is my number one fear (well, besides Sharks, naturally) going back to school?

Why can I not just have clear skin?! I would KILL for clear skin.

Why is it that it seems that it's always your very best friends that burn you the very worst?

Why is it so easy for some people to forgive and so hard for others?

Why do I not like the taste of watermelon? I think it looks absolutely D-lish from a distance but it tastes like really watered down juice to me.

I know I can be good at what I want to do in life. How do I find it somewhere in me to do it?

Why, for the love of all that is holy in this world, will my little brother not cut his freaking hair or pull his FREAKING PANTS UP!?!? Drives me absolutely crazy.

On that note, who invented that trend? Who thought of the idea of letting your pants hang down to your knees (and having to basically waddle to keep them there) in order to be "hip?" I do not understand. I think those kids simply look absolutely ridiculous.

Why does Jr. High suck for basically every single child on the planet? They need to have you sign a waiver or something that says you're ok with being emotionally damaged for 3 years of your life. I dare say that I have never heard anybody say, "Oh, I loved Jr. High. Some of the best times of my life..."

Why is it that it's always the very very very best people that you know are going through the hardest trials you have ever heard of and usually there is nothing you can do to help them?

I feel like some kids (namely 9 month olds and 3 year olds) should be able to be frozen in time. 9 month-ers are ALWAYS fat and happy. I love it. It would be so nice to keep a fat and happy baby who smiles at everybody around for longer than the blink of an eye. Imagine how good it would be to come hope to a happy baby for as long as you see fit. 3 year old say the funniest things. Seriously. I chuckle at least once at every 3 year old that comes in. They have absolutely no filter which leads them to say things like, "You have weally, WEALLY big haiw" or "Awe you going to give me a shot softwee (softly) or hardwee (hardly)?" or "Guess how many I am?" or "Guess what I did yestawday? I had a berfday pawty and I got lots and lots of presents because I am SO beautiful!" Needless to say, I love 3 year olds.

Why doesn't it rain every single day? I truly wish it would. I know alot of people wouldn't love that, but I really would. Why can't it just be my opinion that matters? (kidding)

Why was I born into a good family with parents that are perfect for me when there are some children who are born into unstable families where they are the last priority?

Why is New York so stinkin' far away? I swear, if I lived close, I would be the happiest girl in the world.

You know the staples commercials where they have the "Easy Buttons?" Yeah, I think those are genius. Where do I get one?

I can only whistle when I suck in, not when I blow out. Why is that?

Why is Dr. M. the only one that comes in at lunch?! You would think that he would learn that he would get paged alot less if he would just come in the morning like every other physician at American Fork Hospital. (Only my hospital peeps will get this one.)

Is it bad that I loathe getting up at 4:30-5:00 a.m. when all my co-workers don't really seem to mind? I mean, I'm definitely more of a morning person than a night person but seriously, 4:30 is still the middle of the night people! Am I alone on this?

It's always the prettiest babies that have the oddest looking parents. Why is that?

Anyway, I think that's it for the random thoughts this evening. Just wanted to throw a few things out there.

Until next time...

Things...

It's time for post #2. How exciting! (I know, you guys can hardly stand what my next words are gonna be, right?) Anyway, since I'm pretty sure that I basically have a fan club (blog stalkers-don't deny it, you know it's true), I figured I could list a few incredibly random (and possibly boring) facts about me. Mostly because, like I said in the first post, I really don't have stuff to blog about...

1. I loathe tomatoes. Seriously. Hate them. I hate the smell, taste, texture, everything about them makes me gag.

2. My favorite color is turquoise. Nuff said.

3. I work 2 jobs (both of which I love-contrary to popular belief these days.) Both jobs have to do with infants and/or small children. I LOVE babies and toddlers. They have a way about them that makes you smile.

4. I have the single worst roommate stories on the entire planet. I will challenge any of you and I would totally win. Hands down. I will make you gag with the incredibly nasty (yet unfortunately, very very true) stories I could tell you about prior roommates.

5. I'm pretty good at making people laugh. I sometimes like to think of it as one of my talents. I haven't met too many people that I can't make at least smile a little bit.

6. I usually get along with better and am generally more comfortable with people that are older than me. I don't know why. I have been like this all my life. I just tend to gravitate to and make friends more easily with people that are older than me.

7. I am extremely competitive and outspoken. I can neither confirm nor deny that this has gotten me in PLENTY of trouble in the past. I have gotten better but I'm pretty sure I will always be pretty feisty. Whatev. I kinda like it.

8. I LOVE rain. I am completely serious when I say that I wish it would rain/be overcast all day everyday. I like that it's relaxing. I like that it gives me an excuse to not to do my hair because it will just get wet anyway. I LOVE the smell. I truly wish that I lived in a place that was always rainy.

9. Sometimes I get this urge to just get up and leave. By that I mean get and my car without a plan and just drive until I feel like stopping. I have this strange pull to randomly go somewhere I have never been and stay there all by myself and just hope for the best. Weird? Maybe...

10. I believe that I am a good person but fear that I put out them impression that I am not. It makes me sad.

11. I have this weird thing with numbers. I do not like odd numbers. If I can help it, I will take that one more step to make sure I land on an even number. I will throw things away just so I have an even number of objects to deal with. I will buy one more of something even if I don't need it in order to have an even number. It's weird, I get it. It's just how it goes in my world.

12. If I was randomly given a large sum of money (which, by the way, I'm pretty sure will never happen to me. It's okay. I have accepted it and moved on) I can guarantee you that my very first purchase would be a beautiful cabin in the mountains somewhere. I WILL own a cabin somewhere someday. Mark my words.

13. My biggest fear in the entire world is Sharks. Yep, sharks. Don't judge. It is completely childish and probably pretty stupid but nonetheless, I am 100% scared to death of them. My version of hell is being thrown in the middle of the ocean with sharks all around me and then having to swim to shore without being eaten.. The thought makes me cringe. That is why I don't love the ocean.

14. New York City is my favorite spot to vacation. There is something about it that is so attractive to me. I love everything about that city and I know I have only scratched the surface. I wish I could find a way to live there for free. Any suggestions?

Last but certainly not least...

15. I was born with a cleft lip. Don't know what that is? It's cool. Allow me to explain...Basically, I was born without a top lip. The word "cleft" means space. Got it? That's why my top lip is scarred. I usually don't care or even think about it. I do, however, hate it when people stare. I think its rude. If you are one of those people, stop. If you have questions, ask. If you don't want to ask, turn the other way. Deal? (I'm outspoken, remember? Refer to #7 if confused)

Well kids, there ya have it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Well, I started a blog...

Hola.

Well, I have finally joined the blogging world. It may or may not be the good M. Rose Wilson R.N. (you know who you are) that has given me the final inspiration to take the plunge into the blogging world. It's kindof a big deal. I still think that my life is far too uneventful for a blog but hey, we'll give it a shot. I have no idea how to add people to my blog. I have no idea how to accept requests if somebody wants to add me. I have no idea how to make my posts all cute and fun. Let's face it, I'm a blog virgin. Any help would be appreciated. If anything, maybe I will actually type up some stuff about my life and write down some of my thoughts about said stuff, eh? (unlike that journal that I haven't written in since probably 1996-1997ish). We'll see...

Anyway, that's pretty much it.

Happy Blogging! (that's what you're supposed to say, right? :))
